One Song That Changed My Life: Megadeth — “Go to Hell”🤘☠️🤘
Growing up in a strict household without cable or MTV meant my access to music had boundaries. There was a whole world of rock and metal I barely knew existed.
Then I watched Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey on VHS.
Megadeth’s “Go to Hell” caught my attention. The theatrical intensity building toward Bill and Ted being thrown off a cliff, driven by that heavy music, was beautifully intense. The sound gave the scene its teeth 🤘☠️🤘and I wanted to hear more. A movie I could watch at home had carried something through those cultural boundaries.
Fortunately, I had a friend who knew considerably more about rock and metal than I did. He didn’t have the same household restrictions, and he had the CDs to show me what I’d been missing. My curiosity finally had somewhere to go, and someone who could help it find its feet.
That’s why “Go to Hell” belongs in my answer to the question: What is one song that changed your life?
It introduced me to a much larger musical world, one that would become a lasting part of my life. Looking back, there’s something wonderfully fitting about discovering it through two goofballs on a supernatural adventure. Perhaps it even helped plant the seed for Ghostship Groggy: heavy music, strange realms, and a journey well beyond respectable reality.
Bill and Ted went on a bogus journey long before I found my own in a Deep Space Graveyard!
